I put my son in a Little Swimmers (simply because my husband had bought a package and I was trying to use them up) and we headed off to the pool. The diaper worked great, or so I thought, and when it was time to leave I stripped him down and dried him off, only to realize that I had forgot to bring his clothes with him. Luckily my mom had an extra Little Swimmers in her beach bag so we put him in that for the ride home. We spent some time at my parents house and when we were ready to leave for home -- less than an hour later -- my son was dripping all over the floor. The diaper didn't hold squat.
We quickly put him in yet another dry Little Swimmers diaper for the ride back to my house -- around 10 minutes -- and by the time we got home, his diaper, though not dripping, felt wet on the outside. I simply put a cloth diaper cover over top of him so we could have dinner before his bath. By the time we had eaten dinner, he was again leaking through the Little Swimmers underneath his cover.
So imagine what we are swimming in at the pool. I think I'll stick to cloth from now on! Not only do they not bulk up in water but they also DO NOT LEAK urine into the pool -- which is the most important part of a swim diaper, don't you think??
When I began this blog, I had intended to only do positive reviews on products that I used and liked. However, I feel strongly about this and felt that it needed to be shared.

Interesting. Did you mean that they DO NOT KEEP URINE FROM LEAKING? Haha. I never really paid attention to that before...I always was just so enthused that they didn't get all gushy in the water. Shame summer is almost over, but we have some left so I'll try this and see how it goes...perhaps you just got a bad pack?! I'd like to hope so, seeing as how much you spend on the stupid things for them to NOT work! Thanks for this tip!

If you use a cloth diaper the entire thing is wet. Do you not think that the urine is going to be diluted from the fully absorbed diaper? Seems to me, the only thing either cloth or little swimmers keep in is poo!
ReplyDeleteNo disposable swim diaper keep urine in without leaking. They are only used to contain poops. We use cloth pocket diapers without the liner for swimming and they don't really hold the urine in either because there is nothing inside to really absorb it. So it's not really the fault of little swimmers. It's just the way swim diapers are designed.
